One of my latest investments with Canrock Ventures is in American Health Journal. AHJ has a TV show that has been airing on PBS since 2002. The have also won over 90 national awards. The content is very high quality and perfect for monetizing on the web, so we bought the exclusive rights to publish the content online.
The site will eventually have over 10,000 medical videos, which can be seen at American Health Journal. It is well known that video is where the Internet is going, plus medical video has the most expensive advertising rates.
We are editing the videos down to 1-2 minute segments, answering a very specific medical question. For example:
Our goal is to not just run our own website, but also create distribution partnerships. This is evergreen content, so it could monetize pretty well for 7-10 years. The advantage we have with AHJ is the ability to create new content each month. So as medical information gets old, we can launch brand new videos.
